Belonging to the Engineering Profession
Professionalism
Professionalism is about more than licensing, legislation and liability. It's also about pride, respect and collegiality.

Defining themselves as Professional Engineers is a point of pride for more than 160,000 men and women across Canada.

The P.Eng. appears after their names on business cards, in appointment notices and in annual reports. They take pride in their profession. They demand more of themselves, and are willing to submit to a higher standard—that of their peers. And they share a passion for applied sciences, problem solving and making things work better.

Above all, as professionals, they have been given a unique mandate, and earned the genuine respect of other Canadians as well as, increasingly, people around the world. They have won the right to think independently, use their best judgment and answer to their profession and its Code of Ethics.

With the P.Eng. comes responsibility. But its holders also enjoy the privilege of knowing they have gone the distance, and earned the right to call themselves a professional.
